Tensaw River to Bobby’s Fish Camp
Time Change!
Okay, so we went through the Daylight Savings time change a couple weeks ago, but we were already mixed up from being down here on CST, so it really didn’t affect us too much. However, this boating from sunrise to sunset has had a major impact on my bedtime and wake up time! When it gets dark out on these waters with no civilization around, that means it is time for bed lol! And when you go to bed at 9 pm, you will wake up at 4:00 am regardless of how tired you are! This morning I prayed for our journey and I asked God to give us a calm, peaceful day. Yesterday was rough on my mentality. But as I prayed, I realized I need to be praying for His grace and for wisdom to help us face whatever comes our way. If you are a boater, you know there will always be issues, troubleshooting, loss of something, etc. etc. So, I asked God to help us have the knowledge to fix whatever goes wrong and to give us patience and peace about whatever happens today. Our day started promptly at 5:00 am (CST) though I was awake at 4:00 am. We are already getting into a schedule…James goes upstairs and starts getting everything ready and I cook breakfast. After eating our egg bites (text me for the recipe or follow me on pinterest), we pull up anchor and prepare to leave. It seems to be a beautiful morning, but then the fog arrived. We had just gotten out into the channel and the fog was so thick we couldn’t see anything! We had to turn around and go back to the inlet to wait for the fog to lift. We can’t just anchor on the side of the river because these barges that come through are so big they would wipe us out. We were set back about an hour, but then the sun came out and we were on our way! We had a beautiful day of cruising and drove from the bridge most of the way. It was a bit chilly so we decided to go below and drive from the pilot house. We did get a few sprinkles today, but not any heavy rains. We passed several large barges and I was facetiming with Brittany and she was able to see it all. Facetime! What a wonderful thing!! I got to see and talk to my babies Aerie and Ry Ry this morning! Aerie says she has a new baby. Her name is Unicorn. Ry Ry had graham crackers and later got into mommy’s make up lol. I miss my babies! (Can you tell?)
I tried to take lots of pictures today. We passed under another railroad bridge (no trains today) and also went through one lock (Coffeeville Lock and Dam). We had to wait on a barge in the locks and that set us back another 30 minutes or so. I am still learning the locks. I have to grab or “hook” onto the pin inside the locks. Once I hook on, James comes over and ties us up. Well, doing this in our 44’ Sea Ray is one thing, but doing this on our 72’ Hatteras….well, let me tell you, it is not that easy lol. I got the pin on the first try, but I thought at one point I was going overboard! Lol. Not really, I would have let go before that happened. But it was a cool experience. I am learning every day.
After locking through, we arrived at Bobby’s Fish Camp, our final destination for today. We traveled about 80 miles today. Bobby’s is a campground and former restaurant that has been on this river since the 50s. The restaurant closed this year, but they still have the campground and dockage/fuel for boaters. The owner met us at the docks (decked out in camo) and reminded me we are in Alabama country lol. He gave me a hard time about having my Tennessee Vols hoodie on but he did say Tennessee makes good whiskey. I paid him our slip fee with cash and a shot of Tennessee Whiskey (Oh and we have shore power here!) There are at least 6 other boats tied up here for the night. I tried to get pictures of them all, but it was dark when we got here. We were too tired for the hot tub tonight, but we did enjoy some steaks and baked potatoes before going to bed. It is now 8:30 pm (CST) and my sweet, sexy hubby is already snoozing! He worked so hard today. Tomorrow is a new day and it will start around 5:00 am, so I will be retiring to bed very soon! I hope I am able to upload all the photos and videos from today!
God Bless and talk to you tomorrow!
Some photos from today....
I will post the photos from the Locks and Bobby's Fish Camp in a separate entry

An adventure for sure! James is awesome!
