Day Four

A Chilly Day!

We were a little slow getting started today. We were up by 5:30 am, but had some things to do before we could leave the marina. We wanted to get fuel this morning but there tug boats (barges) fueling up and it was about a two hour wait, so we decided to get it another day. We were finally on our way around 8:30 a.m. We had one lock to go through today and I think I’ve got this down now! And James is doing a magnificent job bringing the boat up to the lock wall. It was a short cruising day (only 61 miles) because we met some friends from our marina (David and Kathy Ensey “Godspeed) at an anchorage for the evening. I put the homemade chili in the slow cooker and we had a great time eating and fellowshipping! David and Kathy are doing the Great Loop and have been on their boat since early October. It is really nice to connect with friends when you have been away for so long. We have now been gone almost 3 weeks and were really happy to be able to enjoy an evening with David and Kathy! We will be passing another couple (Scott and Sheree Daley) from our marina tomorrow, but will only be able to wave as we go by. They are on a deadline…and we are anxious to get back home as well.

The weather was beautiful with an abundance of sunshine today, but it was very windy. After locking through the Heflin Locks, we tried to go up top to drive from the bridge, but it was just too cold with the wind. We did enjoy the hot tub tonight! Tomorrow will be a big day as we have 3 locks we plan to go through before we reach our destination for the night. We are planning to anchor around MM 366 if we can get there before dark. We have about 89 miles to go. As of right now, we are still on track to be home by Monday evening. Let’s hope and pray nothing changes!

Be blessed and see you tomorrow!

PS I am trying to upload photos; however, my signal is too weak. I will get them uploaded as soon

Update: 11/18/20 and finally have enough signal to upload photos from 11/17!
