We are over halfway home!!

We started our day by pulling up anchor at 6:00 am. It was a cold morning, but the sun quickly came out and warmed us up. Our destination was an anchorage called Canal Section Cutoff. We had other options available if we couldn’t make it before dark. Today we had three locks to go through. You never know if you will have to wait on commercial barges or other boats and you can sometimes wait for two hours to lock through. We were very lucky today! We were able to lock through each one in thirty minutes or less. Our first lock was Bevill Lock (mm 306) and we arrived at 8:45 am. We passed Sheree and Scott Daley as we came through the lock. They were waiting to lock through heading south. Scott got some awesome pictures of our boat for us! Thanks Scott! We made it to the second lock (Stennis mm 334.7) by 11:35 and locked through by 12:00 pm. The third lock was Aberdeen Lock (mm 357.5) and we arrived at 2:05 pm but had to wait for boats coming through it. We entered and tied up at 2:25 pm and were through the locks by 2:38 pm. We had a great day with the locks today! We make a pretty awesome team and have this down by now! As we near the locks, I drive while James gets his life jacket on and puts the bumpers out. Then I get my life jacket and gloves on and try to get some photos of the Lock. Once we enter and James gets us to the wall, I grab the pin with this cool grab pole that makes it much easier. Then James comes over and ties the rope to the pin, lets the lockmaster know we are ready and up we go!

We made it to our destination by 3:30 pm and had plenty of time to set up anchor. I did get some pretty nice photos too. Tonight I made Chicken Enchiladas and then we had some time to do a little work on the boat. We recovered one of the window valences in the salon and James worked on the solar inverter system a little. After that, we soaked in the hot tub under the beautiful stars! We couldn’t capture a photo that actually shows how beautiful it was. We were out in the middle of nowhere, no other lights around, and it was magnificent! We worked hard today with all the locks and so, of course, we were ready for bed by 9:00 pm LOL! I actually had to do my Blog entry the next morning because I was so tired LOL!

Six Locks to go through tomorrow!! It’s going to be a busy day! See you then!

God Bless!!

Aberdeen Lock

This is the first nice house that we have seen on the Tenn Tom. We also had a bald eagle fly in front of us around this area, but I couldn't get my phone quick enough to get a good photo. I did video him flying away though.

Our anchorage for the night...Canal Section Cut-off

Dinner tonight...Chicken Enchiladas

Doing a little work....James working on the inverter and we recovered one valance in the salon.

The finished product!

Next a little R&R....hot tub under the stars!
